Outbound Freight Consolidation
Transportation is often the largest logistical expense in your supply chain. With our Outbound Freight Consolidation program (formerly called PDQ Logistics), there are opportunities to minimize this cost.USCS stores and delivers products from a wide spectrum of food manufacturers. Many customers have LTL (less-than-truckload) shipping needs. USCS is often able to match compatible product and destination requirements to form consolidated truckloads at a significant savings to our customers. Customers can count on a regular weekly shipping schedule defined by geographical area. The schedule allows us to offer optimal consolidation of freight by distribution lane. Through a specific standardized carrier qualification policy, USCS ensures that only the most reputable motor carriers with proper authority and certified insurance coverage are delivering your orders. In addition, USCS' transportation team continuously monitors all phases of shipment in order to ensure that your products get where they are going cost-effectively and on-time.
Strong relationships with customers, consignees and carriers along with the growth of our national network has allowed USCS to offer one of the largest, most flexible and reliable consolidation programs in the Public Refrigerated Warehouse (PRW) industry. Depending on where your manufacturing sites are located and where your customers are located, we will find the most cost effective network for your outside storage and distribution needs.
LTL Defined
Orders shipping via USCS' Outbound Freight Consolidation service are usually too small individually to fill a truck in terms of weight and/or cubic feet. These are termed less than truckload, or LTL orders.
The cost to deliver an LTL order through a typical LTL carrier is very high and the delivery can be inefficient or unreliable. The USCS' Freight Consolidation service exists to eliminate such inefficiencies.
How Freight Consolidation Works
USCS' works to build smarter, more efficient pools which allows us to pass transportation cost savings on to our customers.
To accomplish this, the USCS Transportation Management System (USCS TMS) identifies and consolidates outbound LTL orders into truckload shipments, achieving a much lower cost for delivery. The shipments are tracked and managed by USCS people assuring customers that an experienced transportation team will be handling all aspects of order delivery.
USCS TMS is used to rate and bill each pool quickly and efficiently ensuring accurate freight payment to carriers and billing to customers. By using a combination of advanced order assembly, freight consolidation and proprietary information technology, USCS is able to provide highly efficient order delivery results while saving you money, time and frustration as you deal with the complexities of supply chain networks.
